We may all wonder about what happens after we die. In this novel we read about Michael. He decides to go for a night swim in the lake near his home when things change for him. From the title, you assume that this is a story about Ghosts on a lake. If you assume that, you might just be wrong.Michael ends up missing and his family and friends anxiously wait for news of where he is and what could have happened to him. His girlfriend, Laura does not want to give up the search even when others try and convince her that she should accept that he drown. With no body found and the chances low that it will be found, Laura hangs on to hope.
This book was action packed with white vortices, "black maws" learning from Ghosts, and world travel to France, Machu Picchu, and Chicago. Two other people disappeared on the same night as Michael, with none of their bodies found. Meanwhile, there has been a discussion about a big fin sighting. What exactly is going on in Calmlake?

I knew that there was something going on with his friend Ronald. When Michael mentioned that Ronald is supposed to be meeting him at the barbecue, but never shows up. Later after Ron is asked to come over because Michael is missing, he never mentions that he was supposed to be there that night. That alerted me right away. Then he spends a lot of the story trying to convince Laura that he drowned and was washed away downstream. Although there is more to the story. It was interesting to see how it all tied together.

This was a very entertaining story. Fun and light reading. Makes you wonder if "ghosts" really are out there. What is the "Black Maw".
Anyone who likes the paranormal Will enjoy this! Definitely keeps you guessing. I definitely likened the way it that it ended.
Ghost on the Lake will have you questioning your existence from the very start. What happens when you die? What if you did not die but just vanished? What if you lived on in some other worldly dimension and had just a few people that knew and no one that could help you?
These are just some of the questions that will be raised throughout your reading of Ghost on the Lake. The auhtor, Alex Alexander has the background to make a case for the science behind his novel and the plot sure makes it seem feasible.
The book moved quickly and will grab the attention of any reader who enjoys the supernatural and tales of mystery that takes twists and turns on every page.
An Extraordinary fantasy! This is truly a fun book. It has a bit of everything from romance, death, paranormal spirits, close and meaningful friendships, and family ties to twists and solutions that surprise and fascinate. I really enjoyed the writing portraying spirits and suggesting they are everywhere. Just maybe they are. Alex Alexander is very convincing and spins a tale that is believable It is a great book to read just for fun to get lost in reading it. You really don't want it to end. It is a book I would recommend for older teens and up that want an easy read and a couple of evenings of true pleasure!

When I first read the description, I thought that this book would be scary and not a good idea to read before bed. I was wrong. I am thoroughly impressed by Alexander's vivid imagination, descriptions, and entire storyline. This read is a perfect of facts and fairytale, and I found myself so compelled that I finished this within one day.
Alexander takes you through the lives of Michael and Laura from alternative perspectives to provide a well-rounded story. The audience is perfect for young adult readers and up. I find it difficult to summarize the book without any spoilers. Trust me that you'll be captivated. I am looking forward to subsequent work by this author.

Warning Spoilers. I had a hard time getting into this story, the writing was awkward and ponderous and the story moved slowly and it took so long to get to the meat of it. While I understand that the author was showing how things like time and reality are different once you're dead it detracted from the story. It read like a rewrite of Ghost (the movie with Whoopi Goldberg) and it wasted time having the new "ghosts" playing with their new powers, halfway through the book we still hadn't gotten to the crux of the story. It was such a hard read that I did not really get to enjoy the whole concept the author wanted to share. The premise is not new but the idea of the secret coming from Peru was an interesting idea but it was not a unique enough plot to make this book any better than what it was. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book started off a little darker than what I am used to reading. Immediately the author has you questioning your own life and whether you've done all you should and said all you could-since everything can be taken away in an instant.
The story begins with what seems like a drowning death- or is it? It is told from the alternating points of view of Mike (the dead(?) guy) and his girlfriend (still alive and on earth). It is interesting to see the two points of view of some of the same events. It takes place across continents as Mike struggles to figure out where he is and if/how he can return to his girlfriend and family.
This story was unlike anything I've ever read spirits, death, life, soul chasing tornadoes, Aztecs,and communication between all of the above. After reading, you may give a little more meaning to a noisy old creaky house...
